Spotlight on Designer Rosie Assoulin

I can’t believe I missed Rosie Assoulin in NYC Fashion Week!!

I’m loving the modern sculptural touch in her elegant, layered, tiered clothing using neutral shades and raw textures…now that was a mouthful! And evidence to how beautifully she’s compiled several elements of fashion into one single look!

Trends seen at NY Fashion Week

The NYC runway left us with a glimpse of:

  • Minimalism
  • Textured Fabric Cuts
  • Floral Patterns
  • Sequins
  • Embroidered Fabric
  • A Blast from the Past (classic looks reinvented from the 1920s to the 60s & 70s)

…although as always there were & should be exceptions to the rule.

Here are a few of my favorite things:

And that my friends, is my wrap up of NYC Fashion Week.

Had my few WOW moments on the runway. Designers Costello Tagliapietra were my absolute favorite. Hervé Léger came in close second – his designs reminded me of the movie Fifth Element! This year, NYC raised the bar!

Now looking forward to Italy, Turkey, Tokyo and India!

Highlights from New York Fashion Week

Herve Leger by Max Azria

Originally founded in 1985, Hervé Léger was acquired by BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP in 1998, marking the first time in fashion history that a French couturier was absorbed by an American designer. In early 2007 Max Azria relaunched the Hervé Léger label with his own designs, which were quickly embraced by today’s most renowned style-setters, including Kate Hudson, Diane Kruger, Beyoncé Knowles, Rihanna, Kate Bosworth, Kate Winslet, Rachel Weisz and Jennifer Lopez.

Carmen Marc Valvo

Carmen grew up in Westchester County, New York. His father was an anesthesiologist and mother, a nurse. In the Valvo home, traditional children’s story and coloring books were supplemented with educational and anatomy related volumes in hopes their son would follow in the family footsteps. This is where Carmen first developed the formative knowledge of the female figure that would later help him to become such a successful and intuitive designer.

New York Fashion Week 2014

I am rather sad to report that after perusing through hundreds of pictures of designers and their ensemble showcased at New York Fashion Week last month, I not once experienced an AHA moment! déçu!!!! If this is what Spring is going to look like in America, then I’m not jiving it.

But…I still went through the luxury of handpicking my best moments from the ensemble delivered. Don’t hold your breath though…

Long overdue but necessary, my picks! One thing for sure – colors dominate!
