Women who ruled the street style scene first!

After watching only part of the VMAs this year (because to watch all of it would have been the ultimate test of patience), I couldn’t help but wonder how royally we have screwed up the definition of the word “edgy”. Because if we find Miley Cyrus’s awkward, high-school’ish antics or Nicki Minaj’s daring wardrobe “edgy” then we have no concept of where the word originated from or what brought about its existence in the first place.

So let me take you back in time when women kept the “classy” alive and well without the urge to bare it all. Watch how the world’s perception of the word “edgy” has changed and how fashion has evolved over the years.

The OOH’S, AAH’S & WTF’s from Golden Globes Last Night

I know I made a promise last week to dedicate my Monday’s to “The Best of the Web”. But just today I’m backpedaling on my decision to bring you, instead, the highlights, fashion and some moments from The Golden Globes last night. Those of you who plugged in to view the awards, good for you. And those of you who had better things to do last night, well, good for you too.

I’m not big on awards. My favorites barely ever make the nominee list let alone win the awards. But I’m beyond ecstatic on the much-awaited and much-deserved Kevin Spacey’s win last night for his role in the House of Cards!!! like Finally!!! I think he’s an impeccable and flawless actor; his delivery of dialogue is perfection; he can make you cringe when he plays the bad guy, make you weep when he plays the victim and make you roll on the floor when he puts on a comedic role. Remember that father’s infatuation with Windex in the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding? Like he believed Windex was the cure for almost everything in this world. Like it could do anything! Yep…Kevin Spacey is my Windex!

Now let’s not waste any more words but get right down to business…

THE OOH’S

Emily Blunt - Those earrings!!!

Jen Anniston - Elegance, even at 45!

Jennifer Aniston – Elegance, even at 45!

Claire Danes - I like the dress, doesn't scream "Golden Globe Awards" but Claire can keep it simple and elegant without too many bells and whistles

Lupita Nyong'o - Rocks the color combo, not too fond of the floral top (reminds me of a pillow I just pinterested a few mins ago) but yeah, I can rock this at a cute house party, totally!

Met Gala Extravaganza

The red carpet at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art flooded with elites of the fashion, arts and entertainment world Monday night for one of the most sought-out social events of the year – the Met Gala. This year’s theme: to honor the works of Charles James, “America’s First Couturier”, for his lavishly heavy gowns and highly structured aesthetic.

Each year I tune in to see which dress I may be able to replicate and each year I fail, epic-ly, since at the moment, I do not have a ton of gold sitting around in my house. However this year, I almost fell off my chair and let out a scream at the look which I’m going to save it for last…because it is REALLY that best!

But…in the meantime, let’s enjoy some met-gala-eye-candy…

Kate Upton - Met Gala
